Since I don't want to drive on the highway with jerry cans full of gas, I assume that we should plan on filling them up at French Glen?

We can fill them up at Christmas Valley or Plush. More to come....

... and here it is...

Bring Boots, we will be doing some muddy trails.  Rain pants may be a good idea as well.  It was a very wet year in the area and we are told that not many folks remember the area being this green before.  Most of the route will be dirt/old gravel.

Bring Chains if you have them.  Both for Mud and snow.

Have good tires with strong sidewalls.  We will be going through some very rocky areas and will have to be careful.  Also some very muddy areas, per above.

Bring Binoculars and a spotting scope if you have it.  We will see lots of animals.

Bring a fishing pole of your choice. Excellent fishing.  This was/is Norms business for the past 28 years...

I asked Norm about water again and he is bringing a bunch.  He said we will be able to get water at Plush, Hammond Ranch, and Fields.  He said water in between will be drinkable but very hard water.  I have bumped up my water plans to 10 gallons, though I am fairly conservative with water use.

Pics for Norm, of course.

I have the usual plethora of stuff. I'm way behind on getting ready though. The last few days I got nada done toward the trip, and the next couple don't look to be any better. It'll be a busy week!

Tools: soldering gun and good v-meter, workshop manual, some electrical fixings. Usual tools, can of WD40

Recovery: winch and stuff, hi-lift, shovel

Spares: hoses, belts, Overfinch steering wheel, starter, fuel pump, filters, oils and coolant, ignition kit w/ diz and coil, early v8 sensors, fuses, 1-tire (I have rear non-ABS 10 spline axles if anyone wants to carry them)

Need: one more jerry can

I have 4 chains for 215s or 245s if anyone uses that size--speak up.

I'm the other D2 Mike. I'll go through my spares next weekend. I'll probably have a set of hoses, a used serpentine belt, old set of plugs/wires, enough oil to fill the motor or will use it in the diffs if I need to get home, maybe some ATF. The items I should have are a fuel pump and coil but don't.

I have one spare 265/75/16 wheel and no patch kit.

Craig,

Good to hear that you're probably going to make it. Spares wise, I've got about what you have minus a couple of hoses. I'm going to check on the cost of a fuel pump and coil and then decide whether or not to spend the bucks. I'll let you know. I also asked someone about the necessity of a spare water pump, but was told that D2 pumps hold together pretty well and I should spend my money on something else.

So, as usual, I'm clueless. As Lyle Lovett sings, "I bear up to my bewildered best."

I have a spare 235/70R16 on a D1 rim...good tread, just balanced that is available if anybody needs to borrow it.

Otherwise I'm going to put it in classifieds later.

Kevan,

I have 4 petrol and 2 H20 jerry cans. It sounds like 3 fuel, and 1 H20 will be enough for 1 person (me). If you want to borrow the other jerry can feel free.
