We have come up with some trail ready items that we (read...she) makes up before our triips. Not all of them need to be frozen but it helps to get them to go farther.

Barbeque chicken strips, stuffed green peppers, Zatarain's gumbo (et al). Other stuff is standard fare.

We have even stopped at a regular food market deli to get combos of things to make a meal.

Brian and I, with our vans, have come up with a way to utilize the convenient location of the engine compartment.  Install a simple heat reflective slot between the motor and the dash board, large enough for a Papa Murphy's take and bake pizza.  Preheat on I-5 south to HWY 20, then bake all the way over the pass till WInthrop, pull into camp with hot pizza and cold beers.
