Drivewear^®, Activated by Transitions^®, is a new lens technology that incorporates Transitions photocromatics and NuPolar polarization to create an ideal driving lens.  The lenses are the first transitioning lens to darken even behind an automobile windshield, incorporate polarized lenses to reduce glare, the lens transitioning colors are specifically selected for typical driving conditions, and the lenses transition sufficiently to walk in and out of buildings around town or shaded stands of trees while hiking.  In 20 years of wearing glasses the Drivewear lenses are the first pair of sunglasses that I've owned that I've been completely satisfied with.

I purchased a set of Oakley "titanium" Whisker frames with Drivewear lenses from my local optician.  The Oakley frames wrap around enough to provide complete eye protection without looking like ski goggles.  The combination has worked well in all situations where I would typically find myself wearing my sunglasses.

The lenses have performed flawlessly under all lighting conditions.  I first tested them inside my vehicle which has UV blocking glass on all windows.  Unlike my regular transitions eyeglasses, the Drivewear lenses immediately darkened appropriate to the ambient lighting conditions.  Following this success I tested to see if they would darken sufficiently on a cloudy but bright day.  They darkened just enough to provide comfort to my eyes, but not so dark as to make seeing things difficult.  A few days later I had the opportunity to test them under full sunlight and they again darkened perfectly to the lighting conditions.  My final test was to see how they performed indoors.  While still darker than a regular lens, they lightened sufficiently to not hinder any indoor task.  You can for example walk from the beach into a store and not have to remove your sunglasses.  This is a fantastic improvement for anyone who wears prescription eyewear!

The lenses transition from 20% contrast enhancing green/yellow in overcast lighting conditions , through green/red enhancing copper color when inside a vehicle, to a glare reducing and contrast enhancing dark reddish brown when outside in the full sunlight.  The yellow lenses filter out scattered blue light which removes haze, increases contrast, making it easy to perform tasks in low light conditions.  The green/red enhancing color when inside of a vehicle makes stoplights, stop signs, and road signs easy to read.  The dark reddish brown improves your depth perception especially under the mid-day sun that typically washes everything out.  I found the lens colors to be easy on the eye and to provide an overall improvement in vision for the activities that I typically engage in (driving, snowshoeing, and hiking).

Having used all sorts of sunglasses and lens products in the past I can confidently give the combination of Oakley "titanium" Whiskers frames and Drivewear^®, Activated by Transitions^® lenses 5 out of 5 stars and reccomend them with no reservations whatsoever.  Very nice product!
